Michael A. Siegel, DDS, MS, FDS, RCSEd

This unique program will inform and entertain while delving into the increasingly demanding total oral care expected in today's modern practice. Improper oral diagnosis and care opens the dreaded lawsuit door, with serious implications for both the patient and doctor.

The World Health Organization has predicted that in the 21st Century, dentists will assume the role of "Oral Physicians." This course will cover the nuances of medical history taking, extraoral and intraoral physical diagnosis, and current American Heart Association and American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons premedication recommendations. The format of this presentation is case-based and will encourage audience participation.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • evaluate a patients medical history.
  • recognize extraoral and intraoral signs of systemic disease.
  • prescribe antibiotic premedication for patients with cardiovascular disease and joint prostheses.
  • understand the current status of bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis.
  • recognize adverse intraoral reactions to frequently prescribed medications.
  • recognize and treat commonly occurring soft tissue conditions.
  • prescribe medications for use on intraoral lesions.

The real magic of this course is Mike's gift of entertaining the crowd with humorous insights and energy.
